The Command Baton
Hold the Command Baton and an in-world overlay opens — without freezing the world behind a screen. You command your army while the battle plays on around you.
Giving orders
With the baton in hand you can sweep across your whole army from the field:
- Cycle through your units and sub-units.
- Choose a formation and a strategy for the unit you're commanding.
- Enter targeting mode — the world dims to a vignette and a tint falls over the sky.
- Sweep your crosshair onto an enemy to order the attack, or onto open ground to order the march.
Confirming an order doesn't close the overlay — orders chain, so you can command one unit after another in a single unbroken sweep.
Reading the field
While you're commanding, a giant unit banner floats above the head of every soldier in that unit — readable from far across the battlefield, even through terrain, so you always know who's who in the chaos.
Managing the army
Away from the battle, an army screen lets you split, merge and rename your units, while a settings panel lets you toggle what shows on the HUD and rebind your controls.
Whenever the baton is the item in your hand, a quiet “Press to Command” prompt sits above your health bar — a reminder that your army is only a button away.
